Is remodeling worthwhile?
Hello. Your book offer piqued my
interest. With a growing
family, i'm contemplating on adding another room and a 2nd
bathroom to my 2br house rather than moving into a new 3br
house.
Question:
a.)Are you still doing contractor work or are you fully retired?
b.)Are your tips/recommendations valid for different states?
c.) what make remodeling worthwhile rather than moving up
to a new 3br house?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
J.P.
Thanks for the interest in the book. I will answer each question
in order as
you gave it.
1. No, I have been retired several years. The company still
thrives.
2. Yes, of course. My advice about building, too small, for
instance is good for Florida or Alaska & everywhere in between.
4. If you are content with your location, neighborhood, schools,
friends etc then staying where you are is a big plus.
Moving is disruptive to the
family, especially the kids, new friends, new
schools etc. It also is not for free. Moving expenses & real
estate commissions on the sale & purchase are many
thousands of dollars. If you have a house design & the property
that permits a new addition then I think that is the way to go.
This is my advice, not a sales pitch. I will in no way profit from
any decision you will make.
Regards,
Bill Harbrecht
