My experience has been no one puts in enough time & effort into planning the bathroom remodel. Someone has to use the energy needed to design an outline on a piece of graph paper. It should describe in detail exactly what it is you want to do. Whether you are doing it yourself or using a contractor you must plan ahead if you want to get a great remodel.

Here are several points to keep in mind when remodeling a bathroom:

	Create a detailed plan- Make a list of items to be included. Prepare a preliminary budget.
	Stay with your present bath outline- Don't mess around with your existing wall perimeter. It is too expensive & not worth the result.
	Lighting is important- Nobody, but nobody gives enough thought to lighting. Now you will, won't you?
	Don't forget storage- Towels, toiletries have to go somewhere.
	Try to contribute some manual labor- If possible, a great way to reduce costs. Think floor & door moldings, towel racks for a start.
	Don't do a "one of a kind" remodel- Stay with staple fixtures & fixture colors
	Think green- Save with flushing & shower fixtures.
